Storage Devices and RFID Applications in Healthcare

Storage Devices and their Uses in Healthcare

Storage devices hold data, even when the computer is turned off. The physical material that actually holds data is called storage medium. For example, the surface of a floppy disk is a storage medium. The hardware that writes data to or reads data from a storage medium is called a storage device. Take for example the floppy disk again; the floppy disk drive is a storage device.

There are many storage devices in use in today's healthcare setting. This section will cover some of the types of storage devices in use as well as how do these devices work. Uses of storage devices will focus on the functions of hard disks and CD-ROMS. To navigate, you can choose to mouse over at the navigation bar or click on either of the following.
